The Cow Parade came to Houston during the summer of 2001, and it seemed like it would be a fun project to document all the cows I saw around town. There was also the vague idea to do some vacations at the sites of other herd sightings, but it got lost to the mists of time. Then in January 2003, a herd was spotted in San Antonio, and a spotting trip was soon planned. Looks like there's one slated to show up in Atlanta sometime in 2003, so we'll have to plan a trip for that one too. There seemed to be an amazing amount of vandalism to the herd in San Antonio; at least a dozen cows were supposed to be at certain places, but were not, likely due to being at the repair shop, and many more had damage to them. Kids sitting on them is one thing, but people scratching off the paint, or scribbling on them with markers or pens, or tearing off the decor is quite another. Please, be nice to the cows - they're for a good cause, and they're lots of fun for lots of people for lots of different reasons! One of the original goals for this site was to have an area where everybody could upload (or at least link in) their cow sightings, even from cities where we haven't been cowspotting. That's not done yet, but is still on the burner, on "warm". For now, enjoy the cows that we've spotted in the few places we've been. Links are down and to the left. |
